Mix 2 cups of cornstarch to 1 cup of water into a bowl. Mix the cornstarch and water until your oobleck is formed. Tip: If you would like to color your oobleck, add your food coloring to your water and then mix with the cornstarch.
This 14 inch cauldron is perfect for this activity. If you find the mixture is a little too watery and not forming into a solid when you pull the oobleck out of your bowl then add more cornstarch. If you find the mixture is not dripping like a liquid, add a little more water. Just keep experimenting until you get the consistency of oobleck. Fluffy slime is really fun to make! It has a different texture than regular slime and is really fun to play with. Join Us! She is a mom of two that loves to share easy crafts, activities and recipes for kids. Oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid. When it comes to oobleck, you can use them in the exact same way as cornstarch without any modifications. You can try baby powder, but it must have cornstarch in it. Read the ingredient label to make sure. You can also try potato starch, but don't use baking soda or flour.
Put one tablespoon of school glue in one of the plastic cups. Then put one tablespoon of water in the same cup. Mix them together very well. If you like, now is the time to add food coloring. To make oobleck without cornstarch, mix together 1 part room-temperature water with 2 parts arrowroot or tapioca powder.
Add toys to this as well. Let your child use her imagination. Is it an arctic wonderland or a gooey swamp? Oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid. It has properties of both a solid and a liquid depending on the amount of stress applied. When constant stress is not applied, the mixture acts like a liquid. Have fun exploring the frozen oobleck with your child.
