What happens if i format my softmodded wii

Restoring Wii after Factory Reset Our Wii was reset to factory settings without having softmod removed first, I have read a similar post on this board but has not seemed to resolve my issue. I am not really sure what I am looking for to repair this. The HBC is gone due to the format, but now error code so it is obviously not updating.

The Wii is turning on, but no updates and no games can be played. I will be checking the SD card in the morning, but if I could have some hints on what to do next to get this up and running it would be great.

We actually sold it and the person is returning it to us to fix it, but I was not the one that soft-modded it so need some assistance reversing this. Even if I can get it updated to version 4. Reply Quote. What version of the Wii software are you on at the moment?

Version: 4. Then, you can run [ wiibrew. Turn your Wii on holding reset while you do so. Using a dry part of the cloth, repeat step 2 to dry the disc. Power off the console and unplug the power cord for a few seconds. Plug the power cord back in and turn the Wii back on. Hold the red sync button for at least 15 seconds.

Your original not reading issue may be either because the laser has burned out or could also be related to foreign debris being inserted into the drive. Since I am so far out of the loop, is it possible to remove the homebrew and restore the wii back to its original state? If you really want to remove everything then just update it.

That will remove pretty much everything. Then follow any of the 4. Of course the easier way is to just update your homebrew channel, apps and cIOS's. Format the system memory and it will return it to factory settings and remove everything. Last edited: Dec 15, GeneralP , Dec 15, More info at wiihelp on Efnet. Click copy and then yes. Now exit out of the menu. Otherwise, load the only "Twilight Hack" save game. Once in the game, either walk backwards or talk to the man standing in front of you.

If you are using System Menu 3. Turning off or running some other channel or game will have the System Menu delete the savegame again, and you'll have to start over. Also, 3. Format your SD card. Fat32 Panasonic SDFormat preferred. Dont skip this step.

This happened to me. If you do, the installer, well, in my case hung the wii. Had to hard boot it. Copy downloaded files to root directory of SD card. I used windows xp. Put card in wii and start it. Click on the big red envelope with the bomb. The hackmii installer launches. Format the sd-card!!! Be sure to download to right one. If the wad still fails, press B to go back to the main menu, select reload ios, reload ios, then try to install the wad that is giving you trouble again.

There are only 25 wads in the modpack. This issue is caused by the Mac creating extra files and is not an issue. If this bothers you, don't do it. NEVER replace ciosv with ios Doing so will brick your wii if you update from Nintendo. You have been warned. Press B to go back a folder. You will see the following channels installed. Backup Dics Channel - This is an autobooting mod of Neogamma loader, it will autoboot discs. Press any button while loading to access the menu.

When you load it, HBC 1.
