What is the significance of the belt of truth

Prayer: Lord, today I put on the full armor of God. I strap on the belt of truth — knowing who You are. You are good.

God you are faithful and powerful and you are working all things out for my good and I am so thankful. Help me to stand firm in the truth of Your Word — and help me to hide Your scriptures deep in my heart so I will be ready when the enemy attacks.

And I thank you for the victory we have in Jesus that the war is already won. Help me to walk in victory and lean more on You today in Jesus mighty name. Heavenly Father, the truth will set us free. I pray that you remind me of your truth, when the devil prowls every day, seeking to devour believers and unbelievers with half-truths and deceptions. I pray that you remind me of who you are and the truth of you and of your plan for our lives and world, when the world tries to convince me otherwise.

Help me to redirect other believers back to the truth, in love, and to accept their direction when they try to help me when I stumble away from the truth.

Please help keep the belt of truth fastened around my waist today, so I may be prepared for whatever attacks the devil has for me on the battlefield. Although at first glance this piece of armor may seem insignificant, Scripture commands us to put on the full armor of God.

The belt of truth holds together the other pieces of the armor and allows a soldier to operate efficiently and effectively on the battlefield. Without it, they have no way of reaching the sword Scripture , and the other pieces of the armor are not secured without it. Truth can remind us about the true nature of God, especially when Satan attempts to thwart his image, and it can help us guide each other, other fellow believers, back on the right path when our belts go crooked on our waists.

In fact, this claim to truth is as the heart of all opposition to Christianity and all other religions that claim to be absolute. This claim to truth is the biggest target of attack by every enemy we have, in the world and in the spirit realm. Just look at how believers are portrayed in the media and in the entertainment industry. Jesus made a bold statement in John , in which He not only claims that there is an absolute truth, but that when we come to live in that truth, it will set us free.

Our freedom from the kingdom of darkness depends on it. Of course, the standard way believers come to understand truth is through the writings of scripture. However, in discussing the armor of God, I would argue that Bible study is not the intention of the writer. Paul already includes the Word of God in the armor, not as the truth that surrounds us like a belt, but rather as the sword we carry to attack our enemies Ephesians If not scripture, then, what is this truth we are supposed to be surrounded with, which holds all the rest of our spiritual armor together?

No one comes to the Father except through me. When we put on the belt of truth, the implication is that we are literally putting on Christ, who is the Truth. We are not just opening our minds to what is true, but we are asking Him to cover us, and conform every part of our lives to His image.

This is commanded of us elsewhere in scripture:. It is not something you did in the past, or something you are commanded to do in the future. Isaiah Truth had stumbled in the public squares—truth was lacking. His answer was Jesus! Now we understand what the belt means. Now we understand that the truth here refers to Christ Himself and all the truth He embodies. But what do we actually do to put this armor on? The answer begins by each of us asking ourselves this question: Who or what has the final say in my life?

If I could write what the belt of truth is in one sentence, it would be this: To fasten on the belt of truth is to give Christ the final say in our lives v.
