Mahatma Gandhi is one of the greatest leaders of all time. He is the father of a nation and led the Indian civil rights movement that freed India from British rule. There are many characteristics that Gandhi had that made him an exceptional leader, but there are two that stick out: his ability to be to lead by example and his persistence. Before Gandhi led the Indian civil rights movement, India was a country that had multiple diverse nationalities.

His march to Dandi to protest the tax on salt is an epitome of his persistence in following non-violence. Gandhi never denied other people to join his non-violent protest. As he encouraged denying disobedience by boycotting the legislative part e. He never wanted to endanger his followers in regard to health etc. His decision to fast was his decision. People were not persuaded to follow, they were allowed to decide themselves if they wanted to fast as a form of protest.

As Yukl claims, an ethical leader applies the same rules to everyone, is honest when providing information and keeps promises.
