The new Kiefer Sutherland series Touch premieres later this month. Because of the long lead time for Terra Nova , it got on the air this past fall along with 2 other Chernin Entertainment series, breakout comedy hit New Girl and animated comedy Allen Gregory , which has been canceled. Terra Nova had its share of issues during production of its first episode season. For starters, Craig Silverstein, who co-wrote the pilot script with British scribe Kelly Marcel, was not available because his CW pilot Nikita was picked up to series.
Terra Nova recruited Brennan Braga as showrunner. This is an American Science fiction drama that revolves around the Shannon family which shows life through their perspective. Well, Talking more about the show, it shows everything that will happen in the century after the humans destroyed it with the pollution.
As the show ended in the same year, many people appreciated the theme and the storyline of this show. Fans are looking to see if the cliffhanger will ever be resolved by the creators or not.
Sadly, the series has been officially canceled by the executive so there are no chances for it to happen. The showmakers are not that excited to make another part of this series. Many fans are wondering about the cancellation. The series was all doing great and has already received great feedback both from the audience and the critics.
Even though the show earned quite a good profit, then what exactly happens? Why did the creators leave the show midway? As the show consists of great graphics, the dinosaurs and the animation cost more than the actual profit of the show.
Not only this but the filmmakers have done over-the-line promotions and various campaigns and all these things just add extra money for the cost.
In , Disney acquired the shares in Century Fox , making all the movies that have ever produced in their studio under their name. As Torra Nova was one of them, it eventually got removed from Netflix. This is the main reason why the show got removed from Netflix.
Deadline reports that the show from producers Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin will not have a second season. Jason O'Mara and Stephen Lang lead the cast of the show set 85 million years in the past.
Despite the show's practical sets and 16 months of post-production, it could not maintain an audience. It seems as though Terra Nova was doomed from the very beginning. The pilot script was penned by Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel , but Silverstein was not able to stay with the project because his CW pilot Nikita was picked up to series. Thankfully, the series went for a more simple and eye-catching title.
The first bout of troubles with the show started long before a single scene was even filmed. Firstly, Marcel along with Craig Silverstein, who helped her write the pilot, both left. Marcel left because the show was so far from her original idea while Silverstein left after his series Nikita was picked up.
Then executive producer David Fury, best known for his work on 24 and Lost left the show due to creative differences with showrunner Brannon Braga. Set 85 million years in Earth's past, the show needed a unique location to film in and Hawaii, with its green and beautiful landscape, seemed like the perfect place. However, Spielberg vetoed Hawaii out of fear that the show would have been compared to Jurassic Park. Although Florida, New Zealand, and Louisiana were also considered, the production was moved to Australia.
Sadly, this decision signaled the end of the show as filming in Australia proved to be very expensive. Most of that budget went into filming in Australia, the elaborate sets, and the expensive CGI.
Sadly, in the end, Fox could no longer justify such a large budget and was therefore forced to cancel the show. Normally, shows film their pilot first and then wait for the series to be picked up.
